- Obtain the lock box key from the coach
- Locate the lock box at the soccer field
- Unlock the lock and move the latch from the Latched to the Open position
- Open the box and remove the Striper and one box of paint. Six to eight cans of paint will be required
- After removing the Striper and the paint close the box, move the latch from the Open to the Latched position and relock the box
- Unfold the handle and tighten the screw to keep the handle straight
- Open the box of paint and place it in the box-sized carrier at the rear of the Striper
- Move the handle so that the lower end fits into the two retaining screws at the bottom of the Striper, and then tighten the two retaining screws securely
- Wheel the Striper to the field
- Take out one can of paint and shake it well, until you can hear what sounds like a ball rattling around inside the can
- Remove the cap from the paint can and put it in the paint box
- Ensure that the spray nozzle on the paint can is securely in the slot at the top of the can
- Ensure that the paint comes out of the plastic nozzle by pressing on both sides of the plastic nozzle while pointing the can at the ground
- Ensure that that paint can tray is higher rather than lower. There are two adjustment screws on either side of the tray that can be loosened and then re-tightened to allow this adjustment. A higher tray will allow a wider line
- Insert the paint can into the tray towards the front of the Striper. The wide part of the nozzle will be perpendicular to the direction of travel. The sides of the paint can will fit into notches on either side of the opening in the tray, and the front and back of the can will rest on the front and back of the tray. Squeezing the handle on the Striper will now release a flow of paint onto the field
- Locate the lines on the field, follow each line and squeeze the handle to re-line the field. You will repaint:
- 2 touch lines (on the sides)
- 2 goal lines (at each end)
- 1 half-way line (in the middle)
- 2 penalty areas (the bigger “boxes” at each end of the field)
- 2 goal areas (the small “boxes” inside the penalty area at each end of the field)
- 2 penalty arcs (partial circle at the top of each penalty area)
- 1 center circle (in the center of the field)
- 2 penalty marks (a 9-inch diameter circle midway between the top of the goal area and top of the penalty area at each end of the field)
- 1 center spot (a 9-inch diameter circle at the exact center of the field)
- 4 corner arcs (an arc 3 feet from each corner)
- 2 coaches technical areas {a box extending 10 yards (30 feet) down each touch line from the center of the field and located 3 feet from the touch line}
- As each paint can becomes empty, put the cap back on and insert the can back into the box cap side down to indicate that the can is empty
- Remove the paint can, put the cap back on and put it back in the box of paint cans. Cap up if there is still paint in the can, cap down otherwise
- Loosen the two retaining screws at the base of the handle, and move the handle forward
- Remove the box of paint
- Loosen the screw at the middle of the handle and fold the handle back up
- Unlock the lock box, move the latch from Latched to Open, and open lid to the box
- Store the box and striper where they had been originally
- Close the lid to the box, move the latch from Open to Latched, close the lid to the box and push the lock in to re-lock the box
- Return the key back to the coach
Please report any problems with the Striper, Lock Box, Field or Paint to the coach. If it appears that the paint has been used up at your field, please report this to the coach. Parts on the stripers can get worn out, jammed with paint or dirt, or just plain broken. We do have replacement parts when this happens.
Also, paint stock boxes are located next to the Hidden Valley and Pleasant Oaks Baseball fields in the case that the paint has been used up at the field you are at.
